Trend Hunting: Birkenstock Stunnin'

When I started to see Birkenstocks popping up all over the blogosphere, 

I couldn't help but have deja vu moment. Back in the day, the only people wearing the now highly coveted sandals were dads and grandpas who had the audacity to show off their toes.

Now, the sandals have gone from shabby to staple! They give just the kind of laid back look that is needed for coolin' out this spring & summer. Check out my favorite Birkenstock picks below!

STYLE SET, SUMMER TO FALL: DENIM

Summer to Fall: Denim by beyondtheblvd featuring jersey tops

After parousing around Polyvore, I came across the "Summer to Fall" contest, where you revamp a summer staple piece for a fall look. Denim is a year-round fashion element that transitions perfectly into every season, so I decided to create an edgy yet glamourous look around a simple denim jacket from Mango. Once I spotted  those Barbie-pink Charlotte Olympia sandals, I guess you can say I went a little nuts & took the glamazon route. Even though denim is typically casual, I love the fact that with a hint of leather and sequins, you can jazz it up almost instantly! Talk about an upgrade!

Sometimes, snatching a few items from your significant other's closet is the best way to reinvent your style--in my case, 

Kevin's retro graphic tee. Because I was recently laid-off and still have a wedding to pay for, 

my freedom to shop is at its all-time low. I guess this is when those styling skills come into play! 

Now that I'm thinking about it, this may be more of a fashion blessing than a curse, 

considering the fact that I have many--maybe too many--items in my wardrobe that have yet to be worn. 

So when you can't bring in the new, you've gotta work with the old! 

BETWEEN THE LINES

I am loving my new dress from Sugarlips Apparel! It is so versatile! Oddly, it is a maxi dress, but because of this ridiculous, sweltering heat, I had to revamp how to wear it so that it would be summer friendly. Even in the midst of the crazy weather, this lightweight dress did wonders in helping me to keep cool and still look more than decently fashionable!

After looking at Eva Doll's poolside fashion editorial in Friday Magazine, I got inspired to create a look of my own that is perfect combo of Cali cool and glamour. 

If you can't always parlay at the beach, you sure can dress like it!

TROPICAL SQUEEZE

Planet Blue never ceases to amaze me! Nearly every week, I can count on them for some visual stimulation via their infamously fun and fabulous lookbooks! 

There are so many awesome images in their recent "Tropical Squeeze" lookbook that I figured you all wouldn't mind this lengthy post with all of the fabulous shots! lol

I feel like hopping on a flight to the Bahamas like, now!

All of the bold colors, sassy bikinis, and and yummy treats put me in a roll-around-in-the-sand kinda mood!

Throughout the entire winter, I did nothing but complain about how lame the weather was. 

And now that summer is officially here, I don't want it to end! 

Although lately it's been ridiculously hot, 

I'm definitely loving all of the California sunshine! 

And it's days like this where denim cutoffs 

and a cool tee are all you really need.

GIMME SHELTER

Prepare yourself for pure awesomeness! Planet Blue and Foam Magazine have teamed up for the online store's much anticipated Coachella lookbook! PB and Foam are both amazingly cool sources for California-inspired fashion and I am constantly stalking everything they stamp their name on, so you can imagine how excited I was to see the "Gimme Shelter" editorial! Gnarly neon, rugged combat boots, cheeky denim cutoffs, beach-waved hair. Ya gotta love it!
